Phytochemical Techniques

The course is designed to make the candidates acquainted with the basic principles of phytochemistry and the methodologies employed while working with plant extracts. The 3-month course includes classroom teaching as well as hands-on training in various extraction techniques such as maceration, decoction, Soxhlet extraction as well as the use of Clevenger’s apparatus, Rotary Vacuum Evaporator.

Emphasis is also given to inculcate the aptitude for method development while working with a new plant or active component. All life science graduates are eligible to attend the certification course.

All life-science graduates are eligible to join the program. PG students are invited to take up their project work at PIMS.
